Hello all, When receiving expiation traffic notices I have learnt to not open them, write RTS & “Do not consent to contract” on front of envelope. This has been working really well. I always receive three in total, I follow the same procedure with each one and never receive more than three. I still receive my drivers license to renew after sending back all fine notices unopened. Great win. My crazy family and friends still don’t believe me, but that’s their choice. I’m the one with money in the bank.

Anyway a question for today is can I follow the same procedure with council parking fines etc. I picked up my son from Adelaide airport & didn’t park in the single file I guess I’m suppose to when putting luggage in my automobile & my son getting in my automobile.

I noticed a man with an orange hi-biz on taking a photo of my automobile number plate so I knew immediately to expect a fine in the post.

Received a fine in the mail from the council, didn’t open it & wrote on front “do not consent to contract” sent it back to them.

    Any thoughts. thank you

Since you have had success with that method already it seems you could continue to have success. The key is if you didn’t put any money in to start with (eg for 10 minutes parking) then there is no evidence of any contract and they then just rely on you to consent to the fine and consent to their offer of taking your money. If it gets heavy duty then you can probably just follow the three step notice process with affidavit to establish an agreement with them that there is no contract and I believe this could be used in court if necessary.

How have they not plundered the personal bank account attached to the name?
Or do you use a private account linked to a trust? because I did the same as you RTS on expiation notice and they just took the money out of the personal account.

They have taken money from my bank account before but only if I opened it and responded. for example some in the past I contracted to a monthly payment plan & when I forgot to pay they debited a lot of money from my account.

Well in my case I never opened or contracted with them and they got the order to take funds out the account.
I made some calls and found out it was SA fines, they admitted to receiving the letters back with RTS on them and still took the funds

Interesting Bonez, question; Did you write the exact same thing as the Original Poster on the envelope or did you just write Return to Sender?

    Hi Denia,

Question. I understand you can still renew your licence, however, If you were to go onto State Debt Recovery Website would it show the fines sitting there, a developing interest ect? or would there be nothing owing?
