    If you have started making payments to a debt collector then you have agreed to their offer. It would be more difficult t stop those payments as you have agreed by your performance that they have a valid claim. If approached in the future by debt collectors for any other debts they are claiming, there are ways to stay out of contract with them.

      Thanks for the reply morag-janet, I thought that would be the case.

      Could I settle the debts using a credit card and then discharge the credit card?

      I’m not that worried about the debt as the agreement is only $5/fortnight due to financial hardship and won’t be payed off for another 8 years.
