Running public company that has public presence but want to use privatetrust
Hi everyone,
Anyone in the situation where they have a public company that provides services or products and advertises online or social media want to send some of their productivity of labour to their unregistered trust or private foundation?
Just want to clarify if this is ok to do.
I am one of the directors of this company and I have two partners and a few interns. One partner and four interns work on research and data analysis. Therefore they do not do anything client facing or advertising. I’d like to pay them for their activities as consulting services by having my unregistered trust invoice my company and distributing the funds from the unregistered trust to them.
For part of my activities and that of the interns involved in marketing and brand building activities, I would like to pay them as services expense straight from the company as these aren’t private activities.
Therefore my business incurs consulting expenses and marketing expenses but paid by two means, one that is taxable and another that is exempt from tax because these are private activities.
Opinions, advice and suggestions are welcome. Would love to hear especially from you if you are doing this already.
God bless,
Brian
