I’m concerned I’ve heard nothing back about my tax return yet, which was delivered on 29th October 2024. I did get a few private number calls which I didn’t answer. I get centrelink benefits so have a my gov account and have casual work. In order to get my group certificate I had to link the tax office to my my gov account (since unlinked) To sign into the tax portal I had to agree to get correspondance on their online portal and I’m worried I’ve letters there. I just don’t want to agree to their terms to look. Any advice?

If you have heard nothing that sounds like a good thing. I have found that tax returns are one of the easiest things to deal with as long as you have evidence for everything you are putting in the return. Then if you are ever audited you have everything you need at your fingertips to hold your position. If you have invested in the modules you need then you will have more resources at your fingertips as well.

Do you think I should write a letter or just wait?

Hi ! I was in the same boat, lodging a paper return early nov last year. I just today got a text to say I have a message in my MyGov account …. I am wondering if i check it or log in whether it means I am accepting to respond to the entity of me, not as a living being….
Haven’t opened it yet, or logged into MyGov – does anyone else have any experience with lodging the paper return, but getting a response back online?

Mark says he only answers correspondence that has turned up at the designated address. Did you designate Mygov as your address? If not then maybe wait for a reply to the address you have supplied to them. Just remember everything/approach is an offer.

I lodged my first hard copy (paper tax return) in early October 24 according to directions given in the minimise Tax module. I’ve not received any correspondence or Tax credits in the designated acc. yet.

I don’t have a MyGov account linked to the ATO and have not received any phone calls or messages from the ATO. I didn’t include my phone no. on my return.

One of the members mentioned that a 3 month turn around time , as a general rule, being that the ATO is deep in returns October onwards. This was his experience and posed as a possibility as to the longer time frame.
