  • Parking ticket on another’s car – me inputting wrong plate number!

    Hi all,

My friend has received a “fine” for a car park when I borrowed his car recently. This particular one is a non-commercial fleet car, so I only needed permission to use it. It’s actually totally my fault the car was logged as unpaid as I input my plate number and not his! Just automatic input, I didn’t even think about it, I’ve never used anyone else’s car in my life!

So, should the reply be from myself (in the private, that he has passed onto me) in the form of an apology and the evidence from my bank that the payment was paid at the machine (which is logged on my account?). Should I use an affidavit it was myself using it not the keeper, that I was in that car park, that I in good faith paid the ticket cost and completely accidentally input my own number plate, and that I have all the evidence to back this up?

I’d love to stretch my muscles against this regarding discharge, but as it’s my friend’s PERSON I don’t want to stir it up and definitely don’t want him to have aggro from this. He’s not on the same level as us on here (though I’m training him and his girlfriend, another friend, gradually…).

I’m looking that an apology and a plea for forgiveness for the oversight, and proof that the car park ticket was paid (as my car wasn’t ever there they will know that that numberplate was incorrectly input and the times match up), should be enough to cancel it out.

This is hilariously ridiculous, I blame it on the Cornish summer…

If you contact them it should be fairly easy to sort out so long as you have evidence of payment.

Sorry for the late reply, I don’t seem to be getting email notification anymore, and can’t seem to find how to turn them on here on the new site…

The company has chosen to ignore my apology email and my subsequent 2 follow ups regarding my mistake, even with evidence of the actual physical ticket, so the CEO just bought himself a ticket to the 3-notice conditional acceptance process.

Include an affidavit with your first notice and use your proof as exhibits tot he affidavit.
