about 1 year ago, my brother’ s wife got scammed out of family savings by phone scammers, who, she believed were genuinely phoning her from her bank. My brother decided to pursue a case with an ombudsman. He only got back half the savings that was lost. So was there anything he could have done differently, or better to retrieve more money lost, when his wife genuinely believed she was dealing with people from her bank?

She was very lucky to get half back. Why weren’t they able to get the full amount?

It might be the bank. I think the ombudsman works for the bank so it might be tricky to get the full amount back. Maybe my brother’s wife didn’t have enough details about the scammers.
