Craig from gumshoe sleuth has this process for council tax /rates , of course, it needs checking and adapting for individual local situations, in studying it i now have a list of offences i’m running through to see if they stack up in NZ

Please keep me updated. I know someone who is challenging the rates at the moment and they’re chucking the usual stuff at her. She is a member so she’s plugged in to all the right things. I’ll keep you posted.

I’ve started thinking about these characters (councils) again, i’ve questions for councils regarding rates/council tax, questions designed discover back ground facts as to where the council stands . how we got into this situation .
” where is the lawfully promulgated process by which our /my private property is placed on the tax role/ rates register “
promulgated means.
A) put (a law or decree) into effect by official proclamation
B) promote or make widely known (an idea or cause).
“what interest does the council have in my property ? (marks question) “
i’ve had one response to an OIA request, standard reply with a copy of legislation , not unexpected, never the less irritated me.
i do recall when we bought our place, the legal person leaning over, to another desk and saying “almost forgot to place you with the council or you wouldn’t be charged rates” thats another angle i’ve been thinking about

Do you know what the ‘error forbidden’ was hiding?
