Lawyer making threats to me for google review
Posted by finna on July 29, 2024 at 9:07 pmI left a 1 star review with comments for a law firm that does debt collecting. They sent me a letter from their lawyer demanding I pay $2000 for legal fees and remove the review and sign a deed agreeing not to leave more reviews and talk negatively about their company.
They sent their letter to my lawyer as they had their details from an earlier matter which lead to my review. I have advised my lawyer not to reply and to tell them to contact me direct.I intend to write to the lawyer and advise them I dont acknowledge them and to cease their v<b style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; color: var(–bb-body-text-color);”>exatious actions and that if their client has an issue he should contact me direct.
I would appreciate any thoughts or feedback on how to get these parasites off my back and stop their harassment?

adding to the great advice given already…
I have many times in the past used the following.
1) they ask … is this you (name)
NEVER EVER ANSWER YES IF THEY ASK YOU YOUR NAME! NEVER.
2) I ASK THEM “WHO ARE THEY”?.
3) I ASK THEM … Whats it in relation to (usually they wont tell you “STATING PRIVACY LAWS”) … when they say that you know you’re in control!
THEY’LL PROBABLY ASK YOU AGAIN IS THIS “YOUR NAME” … NEVER EVER SAY YES.
I always say “Im not telling you anything .. you could be a scammer for all I know”
AT THIS STAGE YOU CAN CHOOSE TO TELL THEM YOULL REPORT THEM FOR HARRASSMENT/INVASION OF PRIVACY IF THEY CONTACT YOU AGAIN … and … JUST HANG UP ON THEM
or you could …Ask them … do they have “SIGNED PROOF/AGREEMENT OF A CONTRACT WITH COMPLETE DETAILS BETWEEN YOU AND THEM … then SEND IT TO YOU”
… they cant produce the evidence … so … NOW YOU’LL KNOW THERE IS NONE.
Just tell them …”NO CONSENT – NO CONTRACT”NEXT STEP (I always use this last part) …
Then tell them you charge for your time and your charges are as follows:-
$300/hr +$150 administration (per hour or part there of … COVERS EVERYTHING, reply to emails, phone calls, travel etc)
interest 10%/month accumulativeconstruct one invoice listing every one of their contact efforts to you to date (reply to emails, phone calls, travel etc)
add a fee schedule (should be some on this site)
email it back to themodds on you’ll probably never hear from then again. If you do just keep invoicing them every time
***IM PORTANT***
If you search for their company & phone number (ie Reverse Phone Lookup [https://www.reverseaustralia.com/%5D
you’ll find out if they are scammers etc etc.
THIS IS A GREAT PLACE TO FIND OUT ABOUT SCAMMERS

UPDATE:
So I sent this letter to the law firm who was bullying me and demanding $2000 for my google review.
Dear Third Party Interloper.
I have never heard of you before and seen no contract between us. I am not a volunteer; my time is not free.
Your email and it’s contents dated 30th July 2024 is acknowledged and accepted conditionally provided that the following is provided to me:
Kindly provide a notarised copy of the contract between us. It will have the names, home addresses, autographs, contact details, and personal indemnity insurance numbers of all parties. Provide proof that you are not a third-party interloper and that you have first hand knowledge of this matter.
If I do not receive this within 14 days, is your agreement, comprehension and understanding no such contract exists and you are a third party interloper engaging in vexatious and frivolous correspondence which will after 14 days thus immediately reported to the Bar Association, the Police, and formal complaints will be made within your organisation.
Further, any correspondence received by you is subject to our service fee. You agree, consent, comprehend and understand to be commercially liable for this fee and to fulfil the invoice within 7 days. Our premium professional rate which we reserve the right to apply in all circumstances is $800 per hour or part thereof, minimum rate chargeable two hours owing to our excessively busy schedule and lack of time for third party interlopers.
HERE IS THE RESPONSE THAT I GOT BACK THIS MORNING
**NOTE THE 1 STAR GOOGLE REVIEW IS STILL ONLINE
We confirm receipt of your response.
Given the issues raised in our letter to you dated 30 July 2024 have been addressed, our client does not intend to take any further action at this time but reserves its rights to do so in the future.
The balance of the matters raised in your email have no proper basis in fact or law and we do not intend to respond to them.
Subject to any further unlawful conduct by you, we and our client now consider this matter to be at an end.

excellent … WELL DONE ! 🤞🤞
that’s their diplomatic way of saying we don’t want any part of this issue … YOU WIN ! 🤣Obviously since you had to read this (their latest reply) you add an invoice and keep it in your folder along with other previous/future invoices ready to send if needed.
If you make up an invoice as a template , then you have a master ready to go and you only need to change dates & the perpetrators info.
P.S. I make up a folder for every conflict I need to deal to / or have dealt with.

Fantastic, that’s definitely a victory. Well done!! You can chalk up 1 for the win 🙂
