  • recording in a court room

I just finished watching a module of Mark’s where he records in a court room.

I recently supported a friend in court where I was recording and the sheriff spotted me and called me outside. He threatened me saying it was a fine for recording. I asked him what legislation he was referring to and he quoted <b style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; color: var(–bb-body-text-color);”>COURT SECURITY ACT 2005 – SECT 9(1) A person must not use a recording device to record sound or images (or both) in court premises. : Maximum penalty–200 penalty units or imprisonment for 12 months (or both). I said to him “How does that apply to a man?” (I should off said that 3 times). He called me into the office and went out the back to talk to his superior. He let me off with a warning. I should of held my position a lot better but I still got off. My question is I am wanting to record the next time I am in there. Am I better off going in before the court date and announce that I will be recording so as not to make a scene.
