  Setup of A New Tutoring Gig

  Hi everyone, hope you’re all well and thriving! 🙂

  I’m a 30yo young professional / executive, having grown up between China & Australia. So I recently thought about doing a weekly English tutoring + personal development workshop, with myself as the main speaker and moderator, catered for Chinese people living in Sydney. As many of you would know, most Chinese living in Australia are poor English speakers who often have a lot of misunderstandings in terms of culture as well as their own potential, etc. So this is a great initiative and I already have many friends who are interested.

  For payment collection / tax minimisation purposes of these upcoming English classes, what do you guys think is the best way to set up this whole thing?? For example, is it viable to do it as a non-profit-style fundraiser? In this case our mission is quite community-oriented indeed (e.g. empowering Chinese speakers, bridging cultures, etc.). FYI I have my own ABN as a sole trader, as well as an unregistered trust from Solutions Empowerment, with a trust bank account successfully opened with CBA. Thanks so much guys 😀

    Thanks Morag, you’re everywhere!! Just had a quick chat to my mate Brian Chu, he reckons for my purpose, it’s probably worthwhile getting a foundation set up, on top of my unregistered trust (which I already have from SE).

    I’m gonna do some studies on foundations here before I ask any further questions, thanks very much!!
