A4V Money Order Sent to Westpac via GPO Box Address
Hello everyone 🙂
I have recently completed the steps (3 x notice) to discharge a credit card debt with Westpac using a money order and the Module 6 process. However, I addressed all letters to Westpac via their GPO Box address and saw a comment today somewhere else here in the forums that you should send letters to a street address as a PO Box is not contractual.
Does that mean I need to start the process again?
Apart from this I followed the process exactly. I have received 2 statements and 1 default notice from them all of which I returned unopened with the appropriate message written on the front of the envelopes. They have also attempted to contact me by phone but I haven’t answered their calls – my voicemail message states I don’t answer unlisted numbers so to leave a message with a return number if the matter is urgent.
My account is still accruing interest and late payment fees so I am concerned that by sending the notices to a PO box I have voided the process. Can someone advise?

I have been using a PO and GPO box for all my correspondence with Revenue NSW. They kept strong-arming me for the past 18months over a $3k covid fine. It’s a long story but eventually I sent a promissory note for $4k with a default and liability clause attached. This was sent to their PO and I haven’t heard anything.
I am now dealing with them for a forced quarantine bill ($3k). I hadn’t heard anything for 2 years and after I used a promissory note they all of a sudden what to pursue it lol. I think they wanted another promissory note so I sent a BOE for $1.10 instead and limited it.
This has been my experience, I hope it helps.
Perhaps others can share their experiences.

I also just had a thought that if they didn’t provide an address for you to legitimately respond to, what is your remedy? They must offer a remedy so surely a PO box is fine. The notice is getting to them, so what is the difference? Just my two cents. Hopefully others can shine some more light on this.
