Hi, i feel i am in predicament of choices, at the moment. We are US citizens as well as Australian. My youngest (1 1/2 yr)has no passports. Since she was born, our eyes have been opened to so much. All our family(mothers, father, siblings, etc), including 2 sons are living in The United States at this time. One son there will be getting married later on this year and we might need to go there. Either we get just an australian passport for the little one or both US and australian, which we have. The thing with the US passport is we then need to fill out a birth abroad to a US citizen papers, and we now know that is wrong, we are not US Citizens. Even for the Australian passports, you know you are ‘signing yourself over’, at least that is what it feels like! Any ideas? Eventually we will be conveying and reconveying here in Terra Australis, but until that time(i have many fines to get over the line first) do we just submit to it all?? i guess the choice is just to either do the passports or not and be able to go or not go overseas.

      Hi Morag-Janet

I am going to renounce my Australian citizenship do you know much about what the consequences of that may be, while still living in Australia? I moved here in 1993 and was told I needed it for a government job years ago. I am heading back to NZ for family gathering and I have my, All Rights signature on my drivers licence but do I really need to add it to my other cards if I show my Statutory declaration with my new signature on it? I sign my bank card but it came off. The medicare card doesn’t have a signature on it. Thanks Bricky

If you renounce your citizenship whilst still living there, it may put you in the p of having to apply for things as a visitor. You may not have access to free healthcare or benefits if you need them and I believe NZers had to pay tax in Australia without receiving benefits from the system. It is best to write your ARR signature on everything get into contract with if you are claiming it is now your new signature. You may need to update your cards so you can write in your ARR signature when you receive them. Which part of NZ will you be moving to?

Is it still possible to have dual citizenship?

Sorry for the late response moral-janet. Ok but even though I moved her in 1993. I am just going back to Taranaki to spread my dads ashes. Just short stay. Yea I thought I could keep my nz passport and it was automatic duel citizenship. I will do a bit of research into it before I renounce it or not.

          Thanks
