  • BoE:How to stop/cancel a cheque after liability has been discharged with a BoE ?

I’ve presented a Bill of Exchange as an offer to discharge an alleged liability to pay.

Then I wrote out a bank cheque (for that same transaction), and I’ve paid for the same transaction twice (through BoE and then Bank Cheque).

So I’ve now ‘stopped cheque’ on my Westpac banking app (to stop the cheque, which was put through today).

Q: I want to email the bank proof of the BoE (Westpac bank), to support that this cheque should be cancelled (before it has gone through) so it doesn’t go through. How should I structure the email to Westpac? (Because I’m assuming bank tellers and administrative staff will not know what a BoE is and therefore won’t cancel a cheque in its’ tracks if they don’t believe that a BoE is eligible and that the transaction has now been paid for twice).

Q: how do I convince the bank teller to cancel the cheque before it has gone through?

    Cheers!
