  • Discharging SPER debt after already contracting with them

I was giving a $4135 fine for breaking and entering into QLD during CV crazy times. I wanted to fight the fine in court, but needed support as I lacked confidence and unfortunately couldn’t find anyone to help me at the time (this was before I became a member of SE). Secondly, the police officer who fined me came to visit me on a Sunday morning at home to challenge me on taking it to court. He basically said if I didn’t pay the fine and took it to court, I would get a second fine of a similar value for leaving a ‘red zone’ (with zero cases…ever) and I shouldn’t fight it. He would also likely get into trouble as he let me through with only a fine and no question about vax status, nor did they ask me to do a test (see it was never about health). I absolutely felt pressured and backed into a corner so I agreed to pay the fine.

What I want to know, is it possible to discharge part of a debt that you have already contracted to with a promissory note? Has anyone had success?

    Thank you.
