Received a parking fine that was clearly money grabbing
I flew interstate to Melbourne for a work trip and rented a car. Drove to South Melbourne to park on a street to pick up groceries. I paid for 9 mins and came back a few minutes late and found a ranger left a ticket 4 mins after the limit expired.
I’m thinking to tell my car rental company that I got the ticket and will handle it so they would waive my administration cost. I’d write to the council and state that I’m willing to pay and enclose $10 cheque and state that I consent to do this conditional to them accepting this is the full payment under an acceptance for value arrangement if they bank it and that this is a matter between them and me and not the car rental company.
What are your thoughts of this? And how else can I deal with this given it’s clear the authorities in that state is clearly on a money grabbing mission?
