Round table assistance
Posted by Jane-jane on December 18, 2023 at 2:23 pmHi all, we live in northern NSW and are looking for someone who can represent one of us in a round table meeting with the local council to settle a rates matter. We have used the A4V process. Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

Have you studied how to have a successful meeting on solutionsempowerment? Have you done any role play around this and prepared all of your documents, laminating the relevant documents as well? Have you bought the relevant modules?

HI there Morag, thanks for your response. We watched Mark doing his roleplay recently and he said that we should have a representative speaking on our behalf, hence our reaching out.

It might be hard (but not impossible) to find some one competent enough to do this for you, so if I was you, while I was waiting to see if I could find some one, I would be preparing myself for the meeting. There is a member on here who is going to help some one in a meeting (I think in Qld) but she is going to have a script in front of her and she will point to the relevant parts of the script when needed instead of representing the guy. That’s what I did in court for some one as well and it helped my friend enormously. So that could be an option for you too. If you prepare a really good script, thinking of all the stumbling blocks they might put in front of you and base your script around that, you should be pretty well prepared. It would be easier to find a support person in that sort of role.

Hi Jane,
I live in Northern NSW too, still new to all this so I don’t think I’ll be much help to you. I’m working on my credit card with an A4V, sorted some fines and am dealing with my employer using these processes but haven’t ever done a round table meeting.
I would however be very interested to stay in touch and hear how you went with it. If it happens to be Lismore council let me know because I have plans to start dealing with them soon too.
All my best
Bernie

HI Bernie,
Thanks for your message! We will certainly let you know how we go. It’s the Tweed Shire Council. Happy new year to you and yours.
All the best, Jane
