can unemployed people renegotiate a contract with the job centre ? before they sign to receive their benefit(s), can they look at the contract and alter it before they sign it with their precious signature ?

You could try and see what results you get. It would be interesting to see their reaction. Role play possible scenarios before you attempt this, if you decide to do so.

Yes, roleplay, good point. I never claimed dole money, just signed for NI contributions, but every so often a job centre officer would produce an agreement of what I was to do, then I would sign it. The job centre could claim that it’s a unilateral contract because, if I was to claim dole money, then I am perhaps at their beck and call, but I assume it is still a contract and/or an agreement because I though unilateral contracts are unconscionable
