Has anyone had any success asking for a CoO/CoM for a car in Australia? We are looking to pay cash/money order for a new car and it’s the perfect opportunity to ask. Any advice welcome. Not keen to paint a target on my car with UCC/ private/no plates but we have to start somewhere. Surely with so many personalised plates, they wouldn’t stand out as much and I have reserved all my rights. See what happens.

I know people who have personalised plates and they told me they haven’t been pulled up yet. I don’t know how they would handle it if they were pulled up, they have yet to be tested so we’ll see. I suppose it’s about not standing out too much and observing all of the road rules.

Yes, that’s the aim. I want to fly under their radar entirely.

I was using gov plates for over a year without renewing, would go past police all the time and never once got stopped, not until I let the drivers licence expire and then it was like they hunted me down, almost as if they knew where I was going to be before I got there, both times they came after me it was as if they already knew where I was and where I was going…. So that leads me to believe the motor reg place notify police when licences expire

Very interesting, thanks for that information.

They read the chip in the licence. They know if we have it on us unless it’s in a protected wallet or other means.

That’s a very good point, we do have some of those wallets so I will be putting my license in one from now on, thanks.
