Acceptance for Value – Money Order Process

Gidday, I have completed the online training for this module and have two question about the 72 hours to return the Money Order.

    1. We live in country qld so express post from the time sent to get to places like Sydney or Brisbane when delivered can exceed the 72 hours, is the money order still able to be accepted by the drawee if it arrives in their mail box after the 72 hours?

    2. Can this process be used to pay a body corporate statement for a investment property to a regional body corporate manager company? Or would they not know about how to process these.

And if my reply is outside of the 72 hours does the statement of apology referred to by Mark reset in this method of payment? Or should I just pay the payment on the statement?

    Thank you

      Hi Morag

I have a few questions about this after starting the BoE process with Alinta Energy over 12mths ago and have just sent a Notice of cease and desist similar to the letter in the Letters training module, and the examples included within the 12th Edition manual which I recently purchased after joining last month.

I am away for work and missed the Q&A session, if there another way to have a conversation with experienced people?

      Kind regards

Hi, if your receipt of mailing is within the 72hrs you’re ok. Once it’s mailed within the 72hr time frame, you’ve met your obligation and remain in honour and what happens in the postal service is out of your hands. Any delay within the postal service is outside of your control, therefore the receipt of mailing is your proof that you fulfilled your obligation to respond within 72hrs of receiving the presentment.

Can’t answer the other points sorry

Don’t panic about the 72hrs. Is it business days? Weekends? In country Qld, mail often gets delayed or maybe you couldn’t collect it immediately. As long as you specify in your letter that you received it on a given date and the date of your letter is within 72hrs from that date, that should suffice. It’s best practice to have the PO stamp it within 72hrs from date of receipt but I don’t always get to town in the timeframe. Yes, apologising and asking for forgiveness resets it and you remain in honour.
