Body scan at airport
Copied from another source > > Was travelling from Maroochydore airport last week and was directed to go through the body scan. Politely said ‘No – I do not consent.’ Two of the airport security tried to persuade me and then called for the manager. He told me it was safe and I replied in an excruciatingly polite voice – ‘Sorry that’s hard to believe and can you show me the evidence.’ They had all said that I could not fly without taking the scan – but I held my ground. I truly thought they would ground me. I was shocked when after my third refusal the manager said – OK – no worries. The third refusal is crucial – it’s the legal ‘Law of Return’. So people – refuse at least three times and stand your ground and be maddeningly polite. The experience was also very valuable – you get experience in standing up for yourself. In the plane I was seated next to an engineer who confirmed that residual radiation stays in your body for a length of time. We just need to say ‘No’.
