MemberJuly 10, 2023 at 4:45 pm in reply to: Request for Birth Certificate by parents in UKThanks, I will contact the General Register Office and see how to go about this. The government has put everything online and makes you jump through hoops to get anything done but I should be able to call them and find out how to request this.

MemberJuly 17, 2023 at 8:28 pm in reply to: Request for Birth Certificate by parents in UKI have to agree with you. The GRO told me to go to the NHS Trust for the area the hospital is in where I was born. Of course many of these trusts are “new” and have change many time over my 67 years. I doubt very much that I am likely to get a copy but it is nice you gave the form number as I could not even come up with that.

Dear Mel,
<font size=”3″ face=”Arial”>
Thank you for your enquiry.
It may be helpful if I explain that when a child is born, a birth notification is issued by the National Health Service to the registrar in the district where the birth took place, to assist that registrar in fulfilling their statutory function, under the Births and Deaths Registration Act 1953, to ensure that all births in the district are registered.
Whilst the GRO for England and Wales does not hold this information, you may wish to contact the NHS Trust, in the district of your birth, to enquire whether they retain the birth notification information.
Regards
