I have done both successfully (but only with low income earner online) If filling out the online form you need to be inventive with the use of the lines you can actually write on and at the last of these squeeze in your “All rights reserved and done to the best of my knowledge/ability.” Good luck and be honest with yourself and all parties. I am going through the same process. On my third notice with the ATO having made errors in the first two I have discovered after the fact but yes, 3 years are now being audited – all done Mark’s method for my husband. Debt is being trumped up to the hilt. He, my husband, is now starting a new job (as well as being self-employed to give me a job) and I am trying to help the employers MYOB wielding payroll team to set him up to not pay tax through them but to pay his own. Only :/ I don’t exactly know what to tell them/how to do that. Anyone else know? Obliged Sheralee.
