Tax Debt – discharge and income from insurance
Hello, I am brand new to this group and am trying to find my way around. I need quick direction and good advice if anyone can help me please…
I have 2 years of tax outstanding at a large sum and want to be released from this debt and ensure they do not attempt to ask me again…
* what modules should I look at please?? modules 2 & 3 only??
*is there anyone here whom has gone through this process who may be able to assist me (happy to pay for time)
* I receive income from my insurance, in the form of income protection, as I am unable to work, its up to me to advise the ATO of said ‘income’… anyone with experience with this?
*also receive income from a MLM fluke

In Module 2 there is a conditional acceptance to the ATO in answer to their questions to provide receipts for expenses after a three step Notice process has been completed and an agreement has been reached in the private.. There are examples of completed tax forms example affidavit of expenses and there are instructions re documents along with lots more.

Thank you for being so actively helpful Morag! I have a rudimentary understanding of all this but I’m struggling to action what I need. Frankly, I’m beside myself with addressing this with the ATO as the debt is big and I have PTSD, so the overwhelm is really bloody immense for me. I was hoping someone may have an actual letter template I could use to start this process… I am also curious about how income protection is considered. I’m receiving insurance monies because I am unable to work. So this is my ‘insured income’ for my time and energy that I would have normally exerted. I’m actually willing to pay someone with the know how and experience to sort this with me, if there’s anyone who has been successful in ceasing their ‘agreement’ with the ATO…??
